The Revival

Renovation

Needham, MA

Returning the textures, surfaces and spaces lost to renovations was the theme for this Colonial Revival built in 1932. The focus was on integrated built-in cabinets, hardy, durable materials and sunny corners that are ready to welcome this young family home each day, with special attention to their two cats. The gut renovation allowed us to restore the flow of the home, something that has been lost with the addition of an inlaw. Arches now frame both openings to the newly-moved and dramatically redesigned kitchen. Custom millwork throughout, with the island done in brightwork, with traditional brass butthinges and a Danby marble top. Recessed toe kicks placed throughout allow for improved functionality when it comes to getting in close for washing dishes. A custom banquette in the dining area and cabinetry in the mudroom, along with a specially-designed cat door from the basement to upper level allow for the finishing touches that ring true, completing the family’s vision.
