The Pastoral

Renovation-Addition

Lincoln, MA

Our clients wanted to capture views of the conservation land abutting their property while updating their antique home for their 21st century lifestyle. The result is an addition with a strong connection to outdoors, natural materials in the new kitchen, family room, and master suite bath. Floor to ceiling windows flood the space with light and the pastoral vistas they love.

“We hired Kevin Cradock and his team to renovate our 1798 home (that had had multiple additions), and to build a new kitchen and family room that would unite all parts. We wanted to create a natural flow through the house, and bring the outdoors in through smart design and lots of windows. The biggest challenge from a construction standpoint – and where Kevin really excelled  - was that we unearthed several major issues in the process. Whenever they came across a surprise, the team troubleshooted and came up with solutions that kept us on track. We lived in the house during the nearly yearlong construction. Everyone was super respectful and helpful.  It was a pleasure to see them everyday.

Although we had worked with an architect and had really great plans, we didn’t have an interior designer for the project. Kevin personally brought us samples of the rosewood we used in our master bath and the maple we used in our kitchen. He constructed all the custom cabinetry from designs of our architect. One of his carpenters, Tom Sowle, found the live edge piece of wood for our powder room vanity after a long search. Kevin advised us on our HVAC systems and insulation, too. The KCB team really looks out for their clients and helps them through challenging spots. Kevin and his team accomplished that for us. We highly recommend Kevin Cradock Builders.”
